Copywriter-Lightworkers.com
A media company with the goal of celebrating life and the good all around us — the Lightworkers' mission is reminding us that the human spirit is unwavering, full of possibility and capable of inspiring change. A joint venture between MGM and the power couple of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, Lightworkers.com needed short form copy written for their video content along with blog articles to accompany them. With subjects ranging from daily motivation to spiritual guidance, this project was an exercise in conveying the positivity and purpose that Lightworkers was based upon.
Short Form Video Descriptions
Each of Lightworkers' hundreds of pieces of video content needed short form descriptions that were informative, SEO friendly, and written with the "Lightworkers' Voice." The focus was on positivity, inspiration, and hope; to not only engage the viewer but to also inspire them as well. With a character limit of just 156, it was imperative to make each letter count.
The Golden Rule: A Winning Play
"A high school football coach comes through in the clutch for one of his students by giving him the thing he needs most to succeed: a loving home."
Giftable: Mother's Day
"Natasha and Julianna have cracked the code of the perfect Mother's Day gift; a basket filled with homemade rosemary and caraway crackers with goat cheese."
Accompanying Articles
In addition to the video titles and descriptions, accompanying articles were also needed to be used on Lightworkers.com. These two to three hundred word features helped expand on the videos and included more information about the subject matter, along with SEO focused keyword placement. With a bit more breathing room, I was able to more effectively use the "Lightworkers' Voice" to help convey the personality the site was cultivating.
Brekkie Series: Homemade Chia Cups
"It happens way more often than you'd like, the alarm goes off, and you spend your morning running around trying to get ready for your day. You grab your keys and head out the door, only to realize you forgot to eat breakfast. You grab a greasy bag of drive-thru indigestion on the road and spend the rest of the morning feeling awful. It doesn't have to be this way! With help from Kara Dykert, these healthy, filling, delicious Chia Cups can be your new go-to brekkie to go.The base of this marvelous morning meal is chia seeds. Chia seeds pack a major nutritional punch, containing more goodness per ounce than nearly any other food, it's got protein (4g), fiber (11g), Omega-3s (5g), plus calcium, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, and B3. Plus, the fact you get all this in just 135 calories, it's clear that these are seeds of greatness.
Mix three tablespoons of chia seeds with a cup of your favorite milk (we like almond), a tablespoon of honey, and let it refrigerate for 20 minutes while you tear through your closet to find the day's outfit. Then it's time to customize! Take fruit, granola, nuts, whatever you have in your kitchen and top off the chia pudding. It can be as fancy or as basic as you want, it's totally up to you. Pro tip: make it in a mason jar the night before, for an even easier start to your day.
See? When it comes to breakfast, you no longer have to choose between healthy and quick.
